CITY TOUR CUSCO
The city of Cusco is world famous due to the numerous archaeological sites left by the ancient Inca culture, built over 500 years ago. Cusco is the gateway to one of the most spectacular archaeological sites that exists in South America.
We will meet you at your hotel lobby at 1PM to start the tour; then you will be taken to Cusco’s Plaza de Armas where you will visit the famous cathedrall, that contains over 400 painting from the cusqueña school. After touring this sacred church you will continue on foot through an ancient Inca-built street from the Plaza de Armas to the Q’oricancha or the Temple of the sun, the Inka construction here is amazing as this was the key spiritual center of the Inkas from which all roads lead from all of the four quarters of the Inka Empire. From Q’oricancha you will walk down to Avenida El Sol, where you will take your bus to outside of the city. The 15 minutes drive takes you to the majestic Inka site Sacsayhuaman with its enigmatic monoliths weighing as much as 200 tons. Your guide will offer an explanation of this phenomenal site and you will have extra time to do a bit of exploring on your own.
From Sacsayhuaman it is a 5 minutes bus ride to Q’enqo Inka site with its fascinating Inkan altars, then another 5 minutes drive to Puca Pucara, a small, circular Inka site considered as a lookout. The final stop on our tour is Tambomachay, a water temple thought to be used to celebrate the water as the god. After this stop drive back to Cusco where the tour end in your hotel.
